    – In a rather comical case, a man appeared before Magistrate Story Rushambwa on allegations of stealing a bicycle but claimed that he bought it from a 10-year-old boy.
Tatenda Hungwe (22) pleaded guilty to the allegations.
It is the State case that on July 22 2016 the accused unlawfully took the bicycle from Pro Feeds in Zvishavane.
The complainant saw his bicycle being repaired in Mandava where he inquired who the owner of the bicycle was. The man who was repairing the bicycle gave the identity of the accused leading to his arrest.
In his defence Hungwe said he had bought the bicycle from a 10-year-old boy. He said he had done wrong in buying the bicycle from the minor. This was however dismissed by Magistrate Rushambwa as mere fabrication. He said it was anomalous for a person of Hungwe's age to purchase a bicycle from a boy as young as 10 years old.
Hungwe later admitted to have committed the offence.
