    GWERU –
Police found a commercial sex worker who had dumped her two-year-old baby with her landlady before disappearing for two weeks, dining and wining at a local bar.
Sharon Sibanda, (22) who is known by her work name Idah appeared in court facing charges to do with crimes of the children's protection and adoption act.
She appeared before Gweru Magistrate Primrose Elizabeth Magomora who gave her eight months imprisonment and three months were suspended for five years and the remaining five months suspended on condition that she completes 210 hours of community service at Mkoba 4 Primary School.
Sibanda abandoned the child (1) at a place she was renting in Mkoba 14. The landlady, Plaxedes Magaya reported the case when she saw that almost two weeks has gone by but Sibanda had not come back to take the baby.
According to the act Sibanda exposed the child in a manner likely to cause her unnecessary suffering or detrimental to her health, morals, any part or function of her mind or body, that is to say Sibanda being the biological mother, left the child unattended in the house and she never came back.
It is in the State case that, on June 14, 2016 at around 5pm, Sibanda was sitting together with her baby and landlady Magaya when she asked her landlady to watch over her daughter as she intended to go to Mkoba 14 Business Centre. Sibanda vanished and never came back until Magaya reported the case to the Police on June 27, 2016.
She was then tracked by the Police and was found at a bar and was arrested.
