    Serima scoops six trophies at Gweru inter-Catholic games

    – Serima High School has proved to be the powerhouse of sports for the Catholic Gweru Diocese after walking away with six trophies at the diocese games held at Regina Mundi in Gweru recently.
    The ball Games that ran under the theme "Celebrating the year of mercy through participation in sport" saw all 10 Catholic Secondary Schools in Gweru  Diocese battle for top honours in indoor and outdoor sporting activities.
    All the 10 School competed against each other in girls and boys soccer, volleyball, basketball, handball, netball, lawn tennis and table tennis.
    The 10 teams were Serima, Loreto, Shungu, Holy Cross, Hama, Gonawapotera, Regina Mundi, Lalapazi, Chikwingwizha and Driefontein.
    Serima snatched the overall winners prize in boys soccer, netball, boys volleyball, boys basketball, girls handball and boys handball. On position two was Shungu with three trophies in table tennis, lawn tennis boys and girls.
    In the girls category Loreto went away with the overall first prize with two trophies and Regina Mundi was at position two without a single trophy but the girls showed a lot of physicality as the would always range at position two or three in many disciples.
    In the boys soccer category Serima's Kundayi Chitsatso, a very short player won player of the tournament after he showed a lot of skill as he dribbled the ball and turned many opponents inside out. Lerato's Wayne Sibanda won the golden boot of the tournament.
    Loreto's Tadiwa Zamani scooped both prizes best shooter and valuable player of the tournament. Regina Mundi's Tinotenda Mugomba a form two pupil was another notable player.
    Shungu's Kudakwash Sandi also scooped best singles player in lawn tennis.
    Catholic games head in charge Joseph Magomo expressed satisfaction at the success of the games.
    The host head St Concilia Jangara also said that it was a hard programmer to host but it was worth the hard work.
