Newly formed Chibi Junior FC appeals for sponsorship

    CHIVI -
Newly established Masvingo Province Division 2 outfit Chibi Junior FC is appealing for sponsorship for the running of the club which is currently being bankrolled by subscriptions from members, Ranganai Njodzi the interim coach of the outfit told The Mirror during a friendly match at the sprawling Growth Point.
"We are appealing for sponsorship for our new football club which is currently relying on well-wishers and members' subscriptions which are pegged at a paltry $20.
"The players get nothing for their efforts as we only have enough to cater for transport and refreshments, basically the boys play out of passion for the most beautiful game," said Njodzi.
The thirty four year old gaffer is running the show together with Lovemore Dzoro, Andrew Madziva and Vhimisai Zvamaida on interim basis while proper structures for the team are being worked out.
Zvamaida is a former Chibi Utd coach.
Njodzi says the main reason behind the formation of the club was to tap into the talent in Chivi which was lying idle because there was only one team, (Chibi Utd) from the district which was now playing in the Eastern Region Division 1.
"After realising that most of the talented young boys from the area had no chance of playing in the superior leagues because of shortage of teams from Chivi we decided to form this team which will mainly concentrate on those players who are 23 years and below
"Chibi Utd now in D1 has relocated its home ground to Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo because this stadium does not match the minimum requirements for Division 1 games.
"As a result spectators were now starved of soccer entertainment as you can see by the capacity crowd (pointing at the spectators who had thronged the open stadium to watch the match against Mhiti) that have come to enjoy a mere friendly match pitting youngsters from around the Growth Point," said the Chibi High School teacher.
Njodzi a holder of Level II coaching certificate revealed that their long term plan is to establish an academy for U12, U16 and U18 for the development of the game in the district.
The new outfit was playing Mhiti FC in a friendly match after having been admitted into Division 2 where they have only played one match against Bikita Minerals and drew nil all.
Although the team was hurriedly assembled to compete in the not so fashionable D2 they are not a push over as players like Emmanuel Magoche who plays as a right back, Gift Pitisi their goalie, Dennis Nhongo who hails from Takavarasha and Pride Kauleza ensure that the team is well protected at the rear guard.sport news
