    Mkoba 3 scoops baseball gold medal


    GWERU – The Under 16 Mkoba 3 High School baseball team has scooped a gold medal at the national baseball tournament held at Hamilton High
    School in Bulawayo. Mkoba 3 boys lifted the trophy after thrashing
    Chinhoyi High School 9-2 in what they described as the easiest final ever.
    They defeated four teams to be crowned 2016 under 16 baseball NASH Champions. Mkoba 3 boys thrashed Nkulumani High School of Bulawayo
    Province 5-1, Nemakonde High of Chinhoyi 2-1 to claim a 6 points victory in pool A and also book a place in the semifinals.
    In the semi finals, Mkoba went on to display excellency, discipline and resilience when they dismissed Sakubva high 10-9 in less than five minutes
    after trailing the whole game 9-2. The dramatic come back of the boys was due to the outstanding work of Pride Mweyamweya, Samuel Shaka, Aubrey Mukozho, Wesley Nyambi and Rodwell Magwede.
    Team coach Nobert Kwangwari said his team was emotionally drenched after hearing that they were going to face Chinhoyi High School, a team that beat them a number of times before. He said he had to take them through emotional drilling to prepare them for the final opponents.
    "The boys were emotionally drenched when they found out we were facing Chinhoyi in the finals because Chinhoyi is a team that beat us before.
    "Chinhoyi must have on the contrary came against us bubbling with confidence and that played to our advantage," said Kwangwari.
    Mkoba high School head Chenjerai Mupasi also praised the boys for a job well done and for lifting the school flag high.Mkoba 3 high school has scooped the baseball trophy three times since they started training baseball
    in 2004. They were the champions in 2007and 2009.sport news
