    – Fierce clashes have emerged over the leadership of ZPF in Masvingo with Retired Claudius Makova insisting that he is still the provincial co-ordinator while Retired Major Kudzai Mbudzi said Makova had been removed.
The wrangle has brought a wedge between the provincial and the national executive.
While Mbudzi together with the entire 'newly elected' provincial executive insist that Makova is out, ZPF national spokesperson, Jealous Mawarire told The Mirror in an interview that Makova was and is still the provincial co-ordinator.
"I am still the provincial coordinator for Masvingo and the talk of leadership change is not true. Those who gathered to effect leadership changes in the province are just overzealous for nothing, you can talk to the national spokesperson of the party for an official position," said Makova.
Recently ZPF held a meeting at Dzikamai Mavhaire's farm near Stopover where elections are said to have been held and new office bearers for Masvingo Province emerged.
Dr William Zivenge, a lecturer at the Great Zimbabwe University was elected the new chairman for Masvingo.
Mawarire the ZPF national spokesperson said that Makova is still the provincial coordinator and elections for substantive positions will be held in due course.
"Those who are saying Rtd Colonel Makova is no longer the Masvingo provincial coordinator are pushing their own agenda, as a party we are not aware of those elections.
"How can we have elections for an interim committee to replace appointed people and have elections again to replace that interim committee," Mawarire said.
Mbudzi who is in the national publicity committee however, contradicted Mawarire and said Makova was booted out from the province and replaced by Dr Zivenge.
"An interim leadership to replace the likes of Makova who were appointed was elected and we are doing that in all the provinces and we are 70% through with the exercise. The changes will be done until we hold our first convention. The reason why we made the changes is that it was proving to be very difficult to work with several appointed committees," said Mbudzi.
Jeffreyson Chitando who is the ZPF spokesperson for Masvingo insisted that the provincial leadership has changed and went on to provide The Mirror with a list of the newly elected provincial executive.
Dr Zivenge is the executive provincial chairman, Oliver Chirume secretary for administration, Chitando secretary for information and publicity, former MDC T Gutu legislator Ernest Mudavanhu was elected secretary for mass mobilisation while land developer Tachiona Sithole was elected secretary for business and economic planning.
Felistas Guni was elected deputy secretary for external affairs, Moses Mare was elected secretary for labour and social welfare, Rtd Captain Mashavi got the security portifolio and Robert Mukuwe will deputise Chitando.news
