    BIKITA -
Heal Zimbabwe Trust (HZT) an apolitical civic organisation based in Harare has made a great impact in Bikita after it successfully sponsored peace building games.
The games were organised by Ernest Rambe, chairman of Kubatana peace club.
The game which was played under the theme 'Peace kwakumberi' drew attention from residents residing around Bikita township that one could easily confuse it for a provincial or national event.
The games were played at Majembere Grounds at Bikita office and participants fought it out in soccer and netball games. In soccer, four teams Bikita United, Anti- Aids, Air stripes and Chipadze participated. In netball there were only two teams Anti aids and Bikita United.
HZT programmes manager Cleto Manjova said his organisation which operates in 15 Districts across Zimbabwe is holding games like these with the intention of setting benchmarks of the culture of peace and promoting peaceful cohesion of people from diverse political grounds.
He said HZT also facilitates the creation of income generating projects. The organisation sponsored a goat project in Makoni and a poultry project in Bikita's ward 32.
"We are trying to link peace tolerance and diversity through sport, it is my hope that by having people play either soccer or netball together they will learn to like each other and will remember this even when time for political contestation comes, we as an organisation celebrate diversity to defeat adversity," Manjova said.
The winners of the games got a full soccer and netball kit. Bikita United dominated the soccer category and walked away with $100 while Anti-Aids which came second got $75 and Chipadze which was on the third place got $50.
In the netball category Anti-Aids were victors and got $100 while ther opponents Bikita United walked away with $75. Rambe thanked HZT for sponsoring the games and expressed sincere gratitude to the Bikita community for their cooperation by coming in their numbers.
