    – Mash East provincial education director Christopher Chihota has officially opened a $35 000 classroom block at Charter Estate Primary school in Mtegesa Cluster in Chikomba whose construction was sponsored by well wishers from Germany.
The school is 57 km out of Chivhu along Harare-Chivhu Road.
Dr Orbon Helmut from Germany and his wife Sekai Sadza, a Zimbabwean from Chikomba District were responsible for sourcing funds from well-wishers in Germany and they also donated their money for the cause.
The block was built after old blocks developed huge cracks which according to officials were so big that one could put one's hand through the crack.
Some of the key people involved in the sourcing of funds from Germany are Christiane Hann and Rainer.
Dr David Sadza who is Sekai's father and comes from the locality of the school and another person identified as Felistas Marimbe were also mentioned as having played a crucial role.
The block has two classrooms and two store rooms.
Chihota thanked the Germans for the invaluable support to the school and also thanked those who brought the plight of the school to the attention of the donors.
Doctor Helmut said he has plans to construct four other classroom blocks with two classrooms each, two dometries at the school with a section for boys and another for girls with toilets and bathing rooms to lessen the burden of children who travel long distances to school.
They have also provided two 5 000 litre tanks, pipes and taps that are being used at the school as water sources.
Helmet applauded citizens of Germany who sourced funds towards the construction of the block. He said it was encouraging that ordinary people in Germany picked up such a challenge that was being experienced at the school and donated enough funds for the construction of a classroom block.
"We are proud to be handing over the classroom block to the Ministry of Education. Its encouraging that ordinary Germany citizens picked up a challenge being faced at the school and sourced funds for the construction of the block," he said.
Dr Sadza appealed to well wishers to give a hand by donating new furniture like desks and chairs.
The other dignitaries who were present at the colourful ceremony were Chikomba District Education Director Ngoni Mujuru, Chikomba district council representative Lawrence Magwiroto and Featherstone Officer in charge Inspector Hlamini.
Dr Helmut worked for the Germany Technical Co-operation which is a Germany aid organisation which assisted countries worldwide from 1982 to 2011. He worked for the same organisation in countries like Botswana and Zimbabwe.
He is now based in Harare. He is a holder of a doctrate in political science from University of Berlin in Germany.
