    Former MDC-T Chirumanzu-Zibagwe councilor in court for assault

    Blessing Zishiri (48), a former MDC T councilor for Chirumanzi-Zibagwe has appeared in court for allegedly assaulting a man in Gweru after which he smashed the windscreen of his car using an empty beer bottle.
    Zishiri who is facing two counts denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty through his lawyer Chitere Chidawanyika and Partners.
    It is the State case that on August 11, 2014 at around 5pm, the complainant, Camly Shava (42) parked his motor vehicle at the corner of 6th street and R.G Mugabe Way. The accused then drove his motor vehicle closer to the complainant and blocked him and disembarked from his motor vehicle and assaulted Shava using fists through the open window several times on the abdomen and twice on the face.
    Prosecutor Edward Gwainda said on count two on the same day, Zishiri smashed Shava's motor vehicle windscreen once using an empty beer bottle and it cracked. The value of the damaged property is US$207-00 and nothing was recovered.
    He appeared before Gweru magistrate Florence Nago and was remanded to July 27.
    The reasons for the assault were not clear.
