    Chivake Agricultural Show bursts into life

    – Some 120 farmers are expected to exhibit at the Chivake Ward Agricultural Show in Gutu this week on Friday, show chairman, Norman Runyowa has said.
    The show which is set for today (August 5, 2016) will take place at Chivake Primary School grounds about 45 km from Mpandawana along Mpandawana Harare Road.
    "The show is starting at 7am and it will run for a day," said Runyowa.
    Registered for exhibition are goats, maize, groundnuts, sheep and cattle. Women will exhibit their handmade jerseys, wool hats just a few to mention. The show is set to be graced with prominent figures:  Gutu ward 1 councillor David Mudziwapasi, Gutu West Member of Parliament (MP) Tongai Muzenda among others. 
    Meanwhile almost 600 people turned up for the Masvingo Rural, Charumbira Ward 10 Show that was held at Mudavanhu primary School recently.
    Some 59 exhibitors displayed 278 exhibits at the event that was attended by representatives of various Government departments.
    On show were livestock including cattle and there were also hens, eggs, maize, groundnuts, sugar beans and cowpeas. Entrepreneurs also displayed items like yokes, claypots, cooking sticks and weaving baskets.
    Show coordinator Tenius Mugabazi said the show was a success despite the drought that affected the sector this year. Fanuel Hwengwe, Eunice Sinamai, Gono Getrude and Francis Tizirai were some of the outstanding farmers who won prizes at the Show.
    Some companies which sponsored the show are Farm Supply, Z Distributor,, Musa Enterprises and Masvingo Rural District Council.
