    Nyabata High girls team clinch Nyajena trophy

    - Nyabata High School in ward 32 under Chief Nyajena have been crowned Nyajena Foundation Trust (NFT) champions after beating Tugwane High School in an entertaining final by solitary goal scored by Allena Toramendo on Friday last week.
    Six schools converged at Nyabata High for the inaugural NFT sponsored girls soccer tournament which saw more than 5000 people converging to watch the girl child displaying some soccer skills."
    "The win a a milestone in the development of soccer especially for the girl child and we hope it is a stepping stone into the women's national team," remarked the triumphant team's captain Mercy Lunga.
    "The girls played according to instructions and I would like to pay tribute to the sponsors for bringing life to women's soccer," said the ecstatic Irvin Tinoziva Nyabata head coach.
    For their efforts the school received $300, soccer kit and a trophy while the runners up went away $200 richer and a soccer kit as well.
    Praymore Chamunogwa of Tugwane was voted the best player of the tournament and received $30, top goal scorer Gladys Muneri of Tugwane got $25 and Charity Chirugu from Nyabata was adjudged the best goalie of the tournament and walked away with $20. On their to the finals Nyabata who were in Group A together with Madzivanyika and Magudu High schools beat Mudarikwa in the semi-finals 2-1 after a penalty shootout.
    The tournament was sponsored by Philas Guzha of the NFT as a way of giving back to the community.
    Madszivanyika boys team won 1-0 in the finals against Tugwane and received the same prizes as the girls winners and runners up, Blessed Makaka of Nyabata was voted the best player, Timothy Tichivangani of Madzivanyika was the best goalie while Silas Mudota of Madzivanyika won the golden boot.
