Business optimistic as ZNCC opens offices in Masvingo

    - The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) will open offices in Masvingo in August this year in a move expected to boost business through better coordination of activities.
Masvingo is probably the only major city in the country that has no ZNCC offices and programmes after the old offices were closed in  1998.
Masvingo is also one of the few provinces where ZNCC annual competitions are not held to recognise and honour companies and business personalities for outstanding achievements.
Davison Nerupiri, the ZNCC president told The Mirror that ZNCC offices will be opened in August.
"We are definitely going to open an office and a chapter in Masvingo in August on a date to be advised.
"Chris Mugaga the CEO is working flat out to beat the deadline and Andrew Chekani of N. Richards Group will spearhead the formation of the chapter in Masvingo," said Nerupiri.
Masvingo is the only region that is not represented at the annual congress going on in Victoria Falls and it is against this background that there is need to fast track the establishment of an office, added Nerupiri.
Zimbabwe Realtors Managing Director, Edmore Chigonga welcomed the move but warned ZNCC to interogate the reasons for the collapse of the chapter previously.
"It is a welcome development, but it is important that they interrogate the reasons that led to the closure of the office previously so that they address those issues," said Chigonga.
Cassian Mutsambiwa of Mutsambiwa Architects also welcomed the move to open offices in Masvingo.
"As a business community we have been missing a lot on what is happening in other parts of the country and beyond because we did not have a voice of our own hence we applaud the move to open a chapter here.
"Although we have no meaningful industries to talk about, this move will go a long way in helping to industrialise the city," said Mutsambiwa.
Ironically Nerupiri and Divine Ndhlukula who is ZNCC national vice president come from Gutu district in Masvingo.
The Chamber was established for the purpose of developing, promoting and lobbying on behalf of its members and the local business community for the creation of good environment for business to flourish.
It is also mandated to represent the views of business to local and national authorities and providing relevant information on its members to local and international markets.
