Bondolfi Teachers’ student crowned Miss TIFAZ 201

    - Bondolfi Teachers' College student Juliet Mupa is the new Miss Tertiary Institutions Festival of the Arts in Zimbabwe (TIFAZ).
She was crowned during the festival that was held at Mutare Polytechnic on Friday last week.
The 22-year-old model who is doing her second year faced stiff competition from 20 other contestants from colleges and polytechnics throughout the country.
Mupa is a recipient of several accolades since her debut modelling contest at the age of 21.
She said she started modelling sometime in June last year during the TIFAZ festival that was held in Masvingo at Masvingo Polytechnic and she came up at number five after battling it out against 20 other contestants.
"I started modelling last year during TIFAZ festival at Masvingo polytechnic", said Mupa.
Mupa said she was also crowned first princess at the Research Intellectual Expo (RIESET) which was held last year at NUST University in Bulawayo. RIESET is held annually and it's for all universities and polytechnics in the country.
Despite her passion for modeling she said there were some challenges including Zimbabwean culture that frowned at it as source of prostitution. She said modeling has advantages though and one of the most important ones is that it enabled participants to network.
"Although people look down upon modelling, it brings about a lot of advantages such as exposure to local and international models," she said.
Mupa took over from Miss TIFAZ 2015 Heather Masimba of Bulawayo Polytechnic. Robin Chiurai of Harare Polytechnic and Vimbai Nduku Of Belvedere teachers college were crowned first and second princesses respectively.
Mupa said apart from modelling she desires to start a charity organization to help the less privileged people. She said after she was crowned RIESET first princess, she formed a charity club, comprised of eight colleagues from the college in order to assist the less privileged people.
She said they managed to assist a bright grade one pupil from Bondolfi Catholic Primary school who was struggling to pay school fees.
