    Bikita poacher to pay $10 000 for killing warthog

    BIKITA
    - A Bikita poacher who killed a warthog at Sango Ranch in Sabi Valley got the shock of his life when he was sentenced to three months in jail and ordered to pay $10 000 to the conservancy which is the value of the slaughtered animal.
    Felix Muzambi (43) who resides at Musapindira Village, Chief Musikavanhu in Chipinge and is not employed appeared before Magistrate Caroline Tafira.
    It is the State case that the accused was in the company of Tasara Maera, Farai Maga and Madzida who are still at large when they took along six dogs and went to hunt in Sango ranch.
    The three were noticed by Simon Mazanga, a game scout at Sango ranch after hearing noise of barking dogs.
    Sango confronted the accused and his accomplices  and they ran away leaving the dead warthog.
    The head of the warthog was produced as evidence in court.
    In mitigation the accused said he had gone hunting because of the hunger due to drought.
    Samuel Magobeya prosecuted.
