    – A man who bashed a Police officer has been sentenced to an effective 6 months jail term.
Mbekezeli Masuku (22) appeared before Magistrate Shepherd Munjanja on allegations of assaulting Tadius Kambarami (40) a ZRP officer who resides at ZRP Zvishavane camp
The accused pleaded guilty of the charge and was also found to have defaulted a community service sentence of a previous conviction.
It is the State case that Kambarami was on patrol in the company of other Police officers at FC Platinum Lounge in Zvishavane when they received information that Benson Mugondo was being assaulted at the main entrance.
They went to the place to inquire what the scuffle was all about and this did not go well with Masuku who started to pelt stones at the Police officers.
Masuku proceeded to punch the complainant who sustained injuries on the scalp and left eye.
As if that was not enough, Masuku went to the extreme by fleeing away with the police officer's STU cap.
The Police officer could not find his Nokia Asha and ZTE android phone after the brawl which is suspected to have been stolen by Masuku. In his defense Masuku told the court that he had been badly influenced by his friends to commit the offence.
