    – An inmate at Chiredzi Prison who was recently caught having a good time with his wife after arranging their meeting a cell-phone is now being charged for theft of a cell-phone.
Trymore Ngwarati an A class prisoner at Chiredzi Prison appeared before Chiredzi Magistrate Tafadzwa Mhlanga for stealing a G-Tel cell phone. The State led by David Tafangenyasha told the court that sometime last month Ngwarati was caught by prison officers having good time with his wife in a bush close to the prison.
He said the raid came after Ngwarati was overheard by a son of one of the prison officers communicating with his wife on the cellphone. The State told the court that the cell phone which was being used by Ngwarati was stolen from a prison officer Martin Gochero.
In his defence Ngwarati told the court that the cell phone was given to him by a prisoner who had since finished his jail term and he used to keep the phone in a plastic paper on top of the kraal.
Magistrate Mhlanga told the court that it was not clear how the phone ended up being in the hands of the prisoner hence there was need for Gochero to come to court and testify how he lost the cell phone and if he made a report to that effect. The magistrate postponed the case to another date to allow Gochero to come to court to testify.
