CHIREDZI – The last three lands officers remaining in Masvingo after recent movements of others have been transferred to far off provinces, The Mirror has been told.
The transfers come after recent complaints by National Lands Inspectorate Chairperson who is also the Deputy Commissioner General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Godwin Matanga that the officers were corrupt.
Innocent Tambandini and Vorder Kimbini both from Masvingo and Chiredzi lands officer Jacob Chimoto were this week informed and moved to new places. Chimoto will move to Esigodini, Tambandini to Mutare and Kimbini to Hurungwe.
Chimoto refused to comment when The Mirror called him. He said he knew nothing about the impending transfers saying he was busy doing his work in Chiredzi.
"I know nothing about those transfers and who told you about it. I don't comment on such matters, just call the provincial lands officer for comment," said Chimoto.
Last month Matanga demanded the transfer of the lands officers. He even threatened to have them arrested and his words were supported by Provincial Affairs Minister Shuvai Mahofa who said she was shocked when she came to work after her medical leave to find out that other officers who are equally corrupt were still at Masvingo office.
