Zanu PF chair ejected from Beitbridge Parly meeting

    - Zanu PF Matabeleland South chairperson Rabelani Choeni was last week ejected from a workshop in Beitbridge where Parliamentarians and Chiefs were attending an HIV/Aids capacity building programme.
"What does he want here? We are not at a (Zanu PF) rally. He must go out," shouted outspoken Ruth Labode who is also chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committe on Health.
Choeni who was accompanying Beitbridge West Zanu PF legislator Metrine Mudau entered the workshop held at a local hotel with the intention of greeting participants and "welcome" them to Matabeleland South.
"I am here to greet you," he said to an offended and unappreciative gathering.
"Go out now," booed Labode as she helped usher Choeni out.
The National AIDS Council (NAC) and its strategic partners that include members from the Health and Child Care Portfolio Committee and Thematic Committee on HIV/AIDS embarked on a tour of Masvingo and Matabeleland South Provinces in response to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The tour was from 5 May to 9 May 2016.
Representatives from UNFPA, Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, CeSHHAR, Ministry of Health and Child Care as well as NAC board members were part of the entourage.
The programme is to allow legislators to get an appreciation of real issues on the ground in terms of the progress and challenges in the national response to HIV/AIDS.
