    GUTU
    – Two self-styled prophets of the of Johanne Masowe Apostolic church shocked people from Ward 2 in Chiguhune in Gutu when they allegedly left a church gathering at night and went into a nearby graveyard where they dug up the grave in which one of their dead church members was buried.
They came back to the gathering later and started throwing some stones removed from the grave into the fire. It is alleged that they then ordered the man whose father's grave they had opened to go and pour water onto the grave and that is when the later discovered the damage to the grave.
The incident occured on February 14, 2016.
Mathia Chikuti (35) told The Mirror in an interview that his father Solomon Chikuti's grave which was built in 2005 was opened by the two prophets to a point that one could see the coffin, the mat and the blankets inside the grave.
He said the incident happened at around 2am while they were at a church gathering at his homestead in Eastdale Resettlement area in Gutu.
Police Assistant Inspector, Kudakwashe Dhewa said that they have not yet received such a case but investigations will be carried out.
Chikuti said one of the accused persons in the case is Washington Mubhunu who stays in the neighbourhood. The other accused prophet comes from Dowa which is more than 40km from Eastdale.
Village head Talent Machingauta confirmed the incident and said the matter was now before Headman Denhere who would summon the two accused to his traditional court.
"This is an abomination. It is never head of that people without a court order can go willy-nilly and dig up a grave. The punishment must be severe for these later day prophets," said Machingauta.
"These prophets did not prophesy anything about my father's grave and we were surprised to see them bringing stones from the top of the grave and they threw them in the fire.
"They did not explain anything to anyone but sent me with a small clay pot with water to pour on the grave that is when I and other family members noticed that the grave was open.
"This was not welcomed by the family members. We then decided to confront them but they quickly disappered," said Chikuti.
Mubhunu said that he will comment after getting in touch with his accomplice.
Efforts to get a comment from the other prophet were fruitless.local news
