Gweru diocese brother celebrates 25 years

    - Brother Blaziyo Manobo of the St Paul Brothers (SPB) guild under Gweru Roman Catholic Diocese has celebrated 25 years in the brotherhood.
Brother Manobo who is also a lecturer at the Catholic University marked his silver jubilee at a mass service attended by over 700 congregants at Chaka Secondary School on Saturday last week. The mass was by Retired Bishop Emeritus Martin Munyanyi.
The Superior General of the SPB guild, Brother Martin Mafa who spoke at the occasion said it was a blessing for him, his colleagues and the church to have with Brother Manobo.
"Brother Manobo is a very intelligent man, a good organiser and administrator," said Brother Mafa.
Brother Manobo said he was glad to completed 25 years ministering the work of God.
"It started when I was studying scriptures at school. I was attracted by St Paul's (in the bible) zeal and charisma. It has not been very easy for all these past years to do the work of God. I faced a lot of challenges. It is not my making that I am celebrating 25 years of brotherhood. It is because the Lord has been my guard and guide and I have sailed through," said Brother Manobo.
Father Alphonce Masuna of Shurugwi urged all brothers and sisters to commit their lives to the work of God and offer their services morally and spiritually.
Chief Chaka commended the Roman Catholic Church leaders for upholding morality in communities. He urged them to continue working hard in teaching the people the word of God so that 'those who are lost' will turn away from evil doings.
Brother Manobo joined the SPB in 1987. He made his first vows in 1991. For 10 years, he worked as a director of brothers. He later spent seven years as a Development director for Caritas in the Midlands Province.
