    Gutu man burns 5 homesteads after losing wife to relative

    - A Gutu man from Makonde Primary school in Chimedza Village, under Chief Makore who is angry after his wife was snatched by a relative while he was in South Africa is terrorising villagers and has burnt down five homesteads and two gardens.
    Andrew Muchena (45) who had just returned from South Africa realised that his wife Progress Gwatiringa (28) had eloped with his uncle Nyasha Nhema (35).
    Nhema confirmed to The Mirror that he had taken over Muchena's wife but insisted that it was after the two had divorced and separated. He said Muchena and his wife were living separate lives with the former staying in South Africa and the wife staying in Harare.
    Police spokesperson, Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the case.
    Sources told The Mirror that Muchena returned home From South Africa to find his wife not at home. He enquired and was told that the wife was now married and staying with Muchena's uncle in another Village. Muchena went there and allegedly struck his wife several times with an axe and ran away.
    The wife was briefly detained in hospital.
    From then on he sneaked back into the village and burnt houses from one homestead to another thereby striking fear in the hearts of the villagers
    David Chibisa who spoke to The Mirror however, said Nhema has vowed not to let go his nephew's wife whatever happens.
    Chibisa said Muchena has become such a terror that villagers are notr sleeping in their houses. At one time the accused came at 3am and tried to burn down Chibisa's car.local news
