    Delta builds $13m brewing plant in Masvingo

    Jobs relief as...


    – In what is set to become the biggest investment in Masvingo City in many years, blue chip beverages conglomerate Delta Corporation is building a US$13 million state of the art brewing plant.
    The project has already brought some smiles in the city as over 102 people are already employed on the construction site while several downstream companies supplying different material have been contracted.
    The hexagon shaped brewing house will have a packaging hall, a boiler, maize pit, a silo, electricity substation and a refrigeration area.
    Delta Beverages Corporate Affairs Manager, Tsungai Manyeza confirmed the development.
    The new plant will supply beer to the whole of Masvingo Province and parts of Manicaland Province, said Munyeza.
    The Mirror is reliably informed that the Masvingo Super Chibuku plant will produce 50 million litres of packaged beer per year. Sources also said that the plant was goin g to create many jobs downstream when it becomes functional and it will be for brewing Chibuku Super which has taken the market by storm.
    The plant is located adjacent to the old Chibuku depot in the industrial area and construction started in February and is expected to be complete by May this year.
    Masimba Holdings is doing the construction and it has in turn subcontracted other companies like Masvingo Brick and Tile to supply quarry and Wanzai Investments which supplies pit sand.
    Delta has Super Chibuku plants in Harare and Bulawayo.
