GWERU- Gweru Deputy Mayor, Councilor Artwell Matyorauta was laid to rest at the Mtapa cemetery on Friday last week.
Matyorauta died on April 26, 2016 after suffering heart attack, he was 72.
Matyorauta was facing allegations of abusing $8 733 of the local council funds.
He was suspended from the council together with Mayor Hamutendi Kombayi, Town Clerk Daniel Matawu and 11 councilors by the Minister of Local Government Public Works and National Housing Saviour Kasukuwere.
Present at the burial was the MDC T party president Morgan Tsvangirai, suspended mayor Kombayi, a number of MDC party members, family, mourners and friends.
Kombayi said Matyorauta's illness worsened after he was fingered by Kasukuwere in the abuse of council funds.
"The death of our deputy mayor is a loss to the family, may his soul rest in peace," said Kombayi.local news
