Bulldogs bite Kyle in its backyard

    - Churchill Boys High school rugby team (Bulldogs) started their Super 8 League campaign on a high note after beating Kyle College (Vikings) in a league match played at Kyle College last weekend.
Kyle College had the first try when Tinashe Kamunda powered into the box to give the Vikings a 5 point lead over the Bulldogs which was converted by Pride Nyamheni to further the gap to 7 points.
The Bulldogs struggled to get into the game only to respond in the 15th minute through their scrum half Tichaona Hwangwa who dribbled the Vikings line of defense before powering into the try box to draw 3 points back.
Tapuwa Malenga, Cosmas Mubaiwa, Tendai Dhliwayo and Takudzwa Mudandishe added their names on the score sheet for the Bulldogs giving them a 15-7 lead over Kyle before the half time mark.
Churchill stretched their lead through tries from their prop Kenny Chirombo, left winger Jehu Mukurazhizha and eighth man Coveridge Muderere who sealed the fate of the Vikings with 4 minutes remaining by converting a 3 point kick within 20 meters of the try box.
The Vikings could not keep the Bulldogs on a leash and only managed one try courtesy of Tendekai Chingwendere which narrowed the score line to 24-14 after Pride Nyamheni converted the try to get 2 more points.
Despite the loss Kyle College Captain Ryan Musumi was crowned man of the match.
Vikings head Coach Tinashe Jiji is optimistic that his side will bounce back from the humiliating defeat in their next assignment.
The Bulldogs under the guidance of their Coach Bob Mahari have proved to be tough contenders for the Super 8 championship as they won all their last three fixtures during the recently ended Dairiboard Rugby Festival with a win over the Tigers of Prince Edward High School which ended 24-19
