    ZUSA Cluster 2 games roar into life

    MUTARE
    -Zimbabwe Universities Sports Association (ZUSA) Cluster 2 games (indoor) begin today (Thursday April14) at Africa University in Mutare and will run until Sunday 17 April.
    Midlands State University (MSU) seek to consolidate their first position and they go into the second cluster of games with an unassailable lead of 23 gold medals, followed by University of Zimbabwe (UZ) with 13, Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) has five, while the hosts have four.
    Cluster two consist of games such as chess, darts, table tennis, tennis, pool, hockey and rugby for both men and women and 11 universities are taking part in the 16th edition of the ZUSA games with debutants Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) who are yet to get a medal.
    Last year the overall champions were MSU second position was UZ and in third position was NUST.
    MSU deputy sports director Kaves Zvapano said that they are looking forward to be crowned champions for the third time running.
    "We are here just to finish what we started and looking forward to take the trophy home for the third time running, and with our lead I do not see any team that can stop us  from being crowned champions again," said Zvapano.
    GZU sports officer Percy Ngwenya said that the cluster one games have definatly set the bar for   all teams and GZU is looking to try and consolidate its position by getting more medals.
    "cluster one has set the bar all teams are going to be stronger , GZU is depending on the rugby team and girls Darts team which is the defending champions," said Ngwenya.
    Ngwenya also thanked the GZU administration for the support they have given all participating teams the necessary eqpiment.
    "all participating GZU teams have been given uniform branded t-shirts to distingish them from all other universities this gives teams pride and confidence when representing thier school and the teams are camped at Eastgate hotel," Ngwenya said.sport news
