Zimra enforcement manager dies in accident

    - Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) enforcement manager for Region 3, Constance Chimedza which covers Masvingo was killed in a gruesome accident near Beatrice last week when a car she was driving collided head-on with a South-African bound haulage truck.
The accident happened in the evening between Beatrice and Corona Shop as showers of rain covered stretches of the road from Mvuma to Harare.
Long queues of vehicles stretched back several kilometres as the haulage truck lay on the road and was removed more than 12 hours later.
Chimedza died on the spot as she made her way to Harare for the weekend where her family is understood to be based.
Sources said the haulage truck flashed its lights and encroached into Chimedza's lane resulting in the accident. This was confirmed by her husband.
"She was involved in a head on collision with a South African haulage truck which encroached into her lane and she died on the spot, the area was impassable for several hours and we only got to the scene of the accident after three hours," he said.
She was 38 years old. Chimedza was born in Chivhu in Maware village and went to Maware Primary and Goromonzi Secondary.
She enrolled at the University of Zimbabwe for a degree in Business Studies.
Soon after completing her studies she joined Zimra in the enforcement department where she rose through the ranks to become regional manager until the time of her death.
Chimedza was buried at Glen Forest Cemetery in Harare last week.
She is survived by her husband and three children, two boys and a girl.
