    – A four goal thriller failed to produce a winner in the season's Eastern Region Division 1 League opener at the ceremonial home of Masvingo soccer, Mucheke Stadium on Sunday.
Masvingo City FC aka The Citizens and former Premiership outfit Buffaloes FC shared the spoils in a 2 all stalemate during the season's opener which was attended by a sizable but vociferous crowd who urged their team from the first whistle to the end.
It was The Citizens who had the first clear chance to break the deadlock in the 27th minute after some poor defending by Buffaloes but the effort went over the bar much to the disappointment of the fans.
Edmore Nyadenga scored in the second half for The Citizens as they continued from where they left in the first half, piling pressure on Watungwa Watungwa as Buffaloes is affectionately known by its legions of supporters.
The match was a seesaw affair although the former Premiership side had an upper hand and were rewarded for their efforts in 57th minute when they found the back of the net through Kashtigu Zhowakinyu who gave The Citizens goalkeeper no chance with a powerful grounder.
Things got worse for The Citizens as Watungwa Watungwa added another one after Nigel Nazario Gezana converted a cheeky corner to make it 1-2.
Although City tried to come back into the game they found Buffaloes' defence unrelenting, with the midfield thwarting all their moves.
City's confidence grew as the game wore on despite being a goal down and they were awarded a late free kick after their midfielder had been tripped just outside the box which Josiah Chekeke curled into the top corner to level matters.sport news
