    - Professor Rungano Zvobgo, the Vice Chancellor of the Great Zimbabwe University who has filled his cupboard with an array of shields from both local and international awards has once again done it.
He was one of three recipients of Masvingo City Council's biggest award, the  Civic Honour Award held last Friday.

Prof Zvobgo who was accompanied by his wife Ellen Farisai Zvobgo was handed over the award by Masvingo Mayor Hubert Fidze.
The citation read, "Prof Zvobgo is the current Vice Chancellor of the Great Zimbabwe University.
"The Vice Chancellor has managed to aggressively market the University and to transform it into an international premium brand.
"In the process this has promoted the City of Masvingo in regional and international circles. The beautiful Herbert Chitepo School of Law, with the state of the art facilities has given the people of Masvingo something tangible to be proud of.
"The official opening of the School of Law by His Excellency President Robert Gabriel Mugabe not only elevated the status of the University, it also raised the profile of the City of Masvingo.
"It must be noted that towns thrive on good news. The Great Zimbabwe University, under Prof Zvobgo, has over the years, managed to generate a lot of positive news. And that is also good for the city's social and economic health.
"The professor is a prolific writer and has in excess of 10 books and publications to his credit , the latest being Contemporary issues in Education 2014 , College Press , Harare . Accepting the Award, Professor Zvobgo said it was a great honour to be acknowledged at home.
He said his work was made easy because council has been supportive. Zvobgo also said his work was inspired by the fact that he was working in his home area where the desire was not money but to help people.
"I am not working for money. There is a difference between working for money and performing a task," said Zvobgo. He also thanked ZOU's Professor Chabaya whom he said gave him a lot of ideas.
He said that the University was going to work relentlessly to ensure that its agriculture campus in Chivi is up and running. He said that the campus should ultimately bring about relief to the perennial droughts. Sending the room into ruptures of laughter, Prof Zvobgo said men must listen to their wives to be successful.
"Men must listen to their wives if they are to succeed. I am standing here on this podium today because I listened to my wife," said Professor Zvobgo.local news
