    New football club for Chikomba

    - A new football club for the Chikomba community has been launched after the demise of Chivhu Stars last year.
Sporting Chikomba will be competing in the 18 team Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Mashonaland East Division 2 league where it was registered.
     The league begins on …
This was confirmed by the team's chairman and founder, Solomon Taruvinga.
"The team has been formed just as a social corporate responsibility and not for profit making. It is a move to occupy the unemployed but talented youth in the district who are idle.  It is an opportunity for the youth to emulate stars like Roderick Mutuma and Charles Manyuchi, among others, who hail from Chikomba," Taruvinga said.
The club has build a clubhouse in Northwood, currently accommodating 10 soccer players who come from various parts of the district.
A voluntary coach for the team, Tendai Chafika, former coach of the Cargo Carriers Division 1 FC in the Northern Region League has also been appointed and he said there is much training needed as players are mostly amateurs  who have just left school.
The optimistic coach said the players are so determined and aspire to be eventually promoted into the Premier League.
He said, "It is my trust that Chivhu will produce many soccer stars if the boys continue to be as passionate as they are. Currently we are taking players below the age of 23 and just a few above the age. It is viable for a team that is still in its infancy."
However, Taruvinga said the team is still facing financial constraints as it does not have specific sponsors. He said the club is appealing to all well-wishers for financial support particularly transport and allowances for players when they travel.sport news
