New blood running The Charles Austin Theatre

There is an old saying that goes: All good things must come to an end. Perhaps in some instances the saying should continue to say: All good things must come to an end so that better things take their stead. The Masvingo Drama Circle, which was running the Charles Austin since it opened, has been dissolved with effect from the end of February following a special meeting of members, because most of its assets were attached by the Deputy Sheriff in the dispute the Circle was embroiled in with its former artistic director, Leeroy Gono, making it impossible for the club to continue functioning.
On the scene now at Masvingo Province's sole theatre house is a new club made up of vibrant, innovative and committed young artists who are keen on seeing the theatre flourish and run professionally.  These young people were not involved in the legal wrangles affecting the Drama Circle. The new club goes by the name Masvingo Theatre and Arts Club and as the name implies will focus not only on empowering theatre practitioners but all artists in general. The Trustees of the Drama Circle have donated its few remaining assets to the new Club
The chairman of the new club, award-winning playwright and actor,
said of the development, "The Charles Austin Theatre has been the main source of theatrical entertainment in Masvingo and will continue to be so. In fact its supply of great productions will increase and reach a great spectrum. The new club is out to see that the Charles Austin Theatre blooms creatively and professionally."
The Theatre's gardens, to be named The Karanga Gardens, will be officially opened soon and will be utilized as an outdoor entertainment venue.
The Stage Coach Bar is stocked to the brim and the service is unbeatable. The Theatre's kitchen, renowned for its fast food is up and running again.
If I were you I wouldn't miss out on the opportunity to experience the energy that bound to erupt at the Charles Austin Theatre. To join as a member simply visit the venue and be treated like a king at the home of creative kings and queens.entertainment news
