    MSU retains ZUSA championship

    MUTARE
    - Midlands State University (MSU) has been crowned champions of the Zimbabwe Universities Sports Association (ZUSA) games for the third time in a row at the just ended games hosted by Africa University (AU) in Mutare from April 14-17 last week.
    MSU have been the champions since 2014 and managed to retain the top spot after scooping 35 gold medals in second place was University of Zimbabwe (UZ) with 29 gold medals and to complete the top three was Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) with 11 gold medals.
    MSU Deputy Sports Director Kaves Zvapano said, ''Most of our teams play in the leagues, therefore, are already fit. We feel proud to win three times in a row.
    ZUSA president Life Chemhere said that he is pleased with the level of competition exhibited at this year's competitions.
    "I really enjoyed the level of competition that has been exhibited this year with special mention going to the GZU rugby team who were just on the field , the got the silver medal but they played well and I enjoyed watching them play," Chemhere said.
    GZU sports director Percy Ngwenya said GZU is now becoming sporting powerhouse as witnessed by the team's progress in various disciplines.
     "The teams that qualified for the ZITISU, FISU and COSASA games will immediately commence training so they prepare well to be able to lift the GZU flag high," said Ngwenya. sport news
