    Masvingo District schools hold Children’s Foundation Festival

    MASVINGO
    - Over 500 people attended this year's annual Sanganai Children's Festival with six schools taking part underlining its importance to the community.
    The 8th annual festival was held at Rukovo High school in Cluster 23 under Chief Chikwanda Masvingo Rural two weeks ago.
    The six schools, namely Rukovo High, Zano Primary, Mashonga Primary, Mutya Primary, Harawe Primary and Chikwanda Secondary school lived up to expectations as they kept the audience on their feet throughout the ceremony with their captivating performances.
    The Foundation which was started by musician Epson Ngazha in 2007 aims to encourage discussions on economic and social issues through music, art and traditional dance targeting mainly drug abuse, environmental degradation and HIV and HIV.
     "The support from the local community is overwhelming as witnessed by the attendance of over 500 villagers and we are very humbled by the support and the benefits this Foundation has brought to this community," remarked Kutadzaushe Hector chairperson of the Sanganai committee and headmaster at Mutya Primary at the event.
    The schools which comprise the Foundation, sponsor the festival from their own resources. Councilor of ward 23 Cornelius Gwinji expressed joy and gratitude at the organizers of the show as the community has benefited from this event.
    "The community has benefited, even the number of child pregnancies and early marriages has gone down significantly ever since the program started, and our children have grown wiser as a result of this."local news
