Mahofa fumes as Masvingo fails to get Feb drought allocation

    - The Minister of State for Masvingo, Senator Shuvai Mahofa is angry after Government failed to give the province its drought allocation for February 2016.
Mahofa revealed this at a recent Zanu PF Provincial Coordinating Committee Conference held at Victoria Junior School. She said although the Province got some allocation from donors, the food available to the needy was not enough because Government did not honour its monthly pledge.
She said she will do all in her power to ensure that the province gets the February allocation even belatedly.
The meeting was attended by party leadership including embattled Provincial Chairman Ezra Chadzamira, Politiburo members from the province and the party's National Political Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere who is also the Minister of Local Government Public Works and National Housing as the guest of honour.
"Masvingo is the province that is hardest hit by drought and in February we did not receive our allocation from Government and we want our allocation to come. Although MPs have been distributing some food from donors, that food is not enough to feed all those in need of food aid in the province," said Mahofa.
She said Government was in the process of transporting winter maize grown in Triangle.
However, Kasukuwere expressed scepticism when asked whether Masvingo was still to get its February allocation. He said hunger cannot be backdated.
The Provincial Administrator Felix Chikovo said that the Province requires 5 373 tonnes but it is currently receiving 4 400 tonnes leaving a deficit of 973 tonnes.
