Liebenberg High soccer team is back

    - Liebenberg High School soccer team, which has been dormant since last season, won most of the games played during the friendly matches that were held at St Francis of Assisi on Friday last week.
Tizirai Makomo, the manager of the Liebenberg under 15, 17 and 20 soccer teams said they are geared up for the 2016 soccer season.
He said, "We are back to the soccer games in full swing. We have reorganised our teams, management and our teams are ready to represent the district and face the previous champions in the province."
Makomo said their school is a member of the Zimbabwe Football Development Academy (ZFDA), which is led by Morris Kakunguwo who is based in the United Kingdom.
The main aim of ZFDA is to improve skills and develop soccer in the grassroots, through emphasising on a soccer technique called i-touch. The academy also supports its members materially by providing balls and soccer wear.
Members of the football academy around the country receive training sessions online.
Liebenberg High School soccer technical advisor, Prince Nyathi said their kids are gradually implementing the skills attained from ZFDA training, as evidenced on how they managed to beat most of the teams during the friendly matches.
Makomo attributed the school's success in sport to the school head, Rodgers Ngara who has an outstanding devotion to sport.
In the past years, Liebenberg has been representing Chikomba district in the provincial soccer competitions, making it the district's champion.
St Francis of Assisi High School basketball teams won all the matches played.
