    – A game ranger at Gonarezhou National Park was found dead on Saturday last week under mysterious circumstances with his belongings including clothes, gun, his patrol boots, cellphone and overalls strewn over an area covering 500 metres.
Kenneth Zvavahera (32) of Chipinda Pools was found lying naked and dead, and there were foot prints of a hyena next to his body.
Police could not immediately comment on the death.
"The body was completely naked lying facing downwards about six metres from the main fence. There was a spoor of a hyena near the body and footprints were observed. His overall was seen 500m from the body and it showed that a person sleept over the overall and besides the overall was Zvavahera's AK rifle loaded with a magazine of 30 rounds, his patrol boots, radio, cap and other belongings. There were also indications that Zvavahera's boots were used as a pillow.
"Zvavahera`s other belongings which includes a cellphone and underpants were found 20m from the body and there were footprints  that pointed to a struggle," said a source.
The source also said that the body had a small abrasion wound on the chest and another one just below the left eye.
Zvavahera was deployed at Picket Camp 2 with three other game rangers to monitor the fence which borders Ndali communal lands with Gonarezhou National Park. While he was on duty he met a workmate whom he discussed issues with for a long time and they parted ways at around 9am.
Zvavahera did not return to camp until 7pm when his workmates became suspicious and a search was launched.
His body was only found the next day. local news
