    - The Deputy Minister of Mines who is also the MP for Zvishavane Runde Constituency, Fred Moyo is building a primary and secondary school in Mazvihwa in Zishavane in order to reduce the distance that children are walking to school.
Moyo confirmed this in an interview with The Mirror.
He said pupils were walking more than 10km in order to access the nearest school.
The schools are Zungwi primary sand Zuruvi Secondary. Both are already operating with Zungwi catering for grades one to five while Zuruvi has form ones and twos.
"I am in the process of building two schools in Mazvihwa and as we speak Zungwi Primary School has already started operating and currently it can accommodate grades 1 to 5 pupils although some are still learning in church buildings. Zuruvi Secondary School is catering for form one and two pupils," said Moyo.
He said pupils were being forced to leave their parents and stay with relatives elsewhere because there were no schools in their area.
"Kids were forced to walk long distances just to access the nearest school and this situation saw them leaving their parents' homes to stay with relatives near schools and even dropping out of school hence the need to help the community," said Moyo.
Chief Mazvihwa confirmed the development and applauded the MP for initiating the project.
"MP Moyo is indeed building schools in Mukumbi Ward and I really thank him for the great job he is doing and the issue of pupils walking long distances to the nearest school is going to be a thing of the past," said Mazvihwa. education news
