    Chivi Councillor Magwizi convicted


    - Prominent Zanu PF Central committee member and ward six councillor Cleopas Magwizi has been convicted for failing to appear in court on the set date for his theft charge case on January 10, 2014.
    Magwizi was facing theft charges.
    He appeared before Chivi Resident Magistrate Bishard Chineka after a default inquiry was raised against him and was ordered to pay $20 fine last Friday after lunguishing in custody for 7 days.
    Magwizi told the court that he failed to appear in court on the said date because he was hospitalised during that period.
    It is the State case that on June 30, 2012 at Mhandamabwe Business Centre, Magwizi took money amounting to US$136 that had been collected from villagers for the purpose of procuring maize which Magwizi allegedly failed to deliver to the villagers.
    Represented by Bonus Muzondo the villagers filed a complaint against Magwizi and   the trial was set for January 10, 2014 but Magwizi did not show up.
    Magwizi is the brother to prominent businessman and Ward 2 councillor Sanders Magwizi.local news
