All set for provincial Jibilika Dance Festival

    - Dance groups from across the province will this Saturday converge at Charles Austin Theatre for the annual Jibilika Dance Festival provincial finals.
The national finals of the 9th edition of the Jibilika Dance Festival running under the theme "Empowered" will be held in Mutare from 26 to 27 August at a venue to be advised. This was confirmed by Plot Mhako the director of the festival in an interview with The Mirror.
He added that the dance festival is mainly aimed at uplifting and developing unrecognised flairs of the youths in rural and urban areas.
"The annual festival will be running under the theme "Empowered" aimed at creating a more enhanced festival, that seeks to give more exposure to raw unsung talent from the village to the city, charged with powerful social messaging and transformative programming", said Mhako.
These annual festivals are considered essential to the livelihood of the youths as they allow their voices within the talents to be heard and also enrich dancing as art. Following the prior finale held in Bulawayo which saw Magesh winning, Mutare is set to host the grand finale of this year`s preliminaries from 26-27 August where the winner will represent its province at national level.
"The national finale competitions are slated for Mutare from  26th to 27th , following a very successful run in Bulawayo last year which was won by Magesh from the city followed by Ebony from Gwanda and Explosion from Bulawayo on 3rd place", confirmed Mhako.
Competitors are urged to pay registration fee, $1 per each person before the show and solo dancers categories include Breaking Boy/ Girl (B-boy/ B-girl), krump, house and new school dancing (popping, locking and amination)  local news
