    MASVINGO
    – Several school girls have allegedly  fallen pregnant at Rumwanda Secondary School in Masvingo District and parents are up in arms with six male teachers who are said to be sexually abusing the students.
Names of three girls who are said to be pregnant have been given to The Mirror.
Highly placed sources in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education who spoke on condition of anonymity said there are investigations that have been instituted against the alleged culprits.
However, Zakaria Makopa, the district education officer for Masvingo declined to comment.
Ward 1 Councillor, Lovemore Makuyana told The Mirror that the School Development Committee (SDC) and ZANU PF party district chair, Steven Matiki has since written a petition to the district education officer.
He said that parents have been threatening to demonstrate unless the teachers (names supplied) are removed.
"We took the matter to the District Education Officer in Masvingo following continued threats by the villagers to hold a demonstration over the escalating sexual abuse of female students at the school.
"This week some villagers were baying for the blood of the culprits. They even wanted to  remove their belongings out of the staff quarters and dump them by the road side," Makuyana said.
The decision to conduct a demonstration was mooted by parents when the former Vice SDC chair, Maria Chinombo fumed about the issue at the school's Annual General Meeting last month.
Senior members from the Ministry are said to be investigating the scandal. It is however alleged that one teacher has paid some parents to hide away their pregnant daughter.local news
