$50 000 lawsuit for Mpandawana kidnappers

    – Two women from Mpandawana in Gutu who kidnapped and severely assaulted a nurse they accused of having a relationship with one of the husbands have been slapped with a $50 000 lawsuit, according to High Court papers in the hands of The Mirror.
Karen Shenjere who is the wife of Gutu Rural District engineer Vambai Shenjere and her friend Mercy Mashava have been given 10 days to respond to the lawsuit which was entered into at the High Court on March 24 2016.
Vaida Chiripanyanga says in her court papers that the amount is for damages for shock, patrimonial loss, pain and suffering bodily disfigurement and medical expenses including those that will arise in future.
Chiripanyanga is being represented by a lawyer from Zimudzi and Associates.
Shenjere and Mashava have already been arrested for the kidnap and both have pleaded guilty to the charges before Gutu Magistrate Edwin Marecha and the matter is awaiting ruling at the High Court although the two have approached the courts with a view to changing their plea to not guilty.
The two spent several days in prison and they are currently out on bail.
The case is that Shenjere has been accusing Chiripanyanga of being in love with her husband. Shenjere and her friend Mashava lured Chiripanyanga who stays in Harare to Gutu where they kidnapped and bundled her into a Mazda Axella registration number ADT8637. The defendants then blindfolded the plaintiff and drove her to a secluded place.
They poured petrol on her, assaulted her using a baton stick and a knife and they also stripped her naked before forcing her to surrender her urine and testing it for pregnancy.
They also stole Chiripanyanga's mobile phone, a Samsung Galaxy Note 3.local news
