    – Senior Zvishavane Town Council officials have met with vendors to discuss problems between the traders and the municipal police.
The vendors had expressed concern on the treatment they receive at the hands of the municipal police. They alleged that the municipal police was also in the habit of ill-treating vendors with disabilities.
The meeting was attended by the Town Council secretary Tinoda Mukutu, council chairman Isaac Dube and other top council officials.
Addressing the vendors, Mukutu said council had an open door policy and vendors were free to come and report any form of ill-treatment by the local authority's police.
He said council was working on giving vendors temporary places to work from while a permanent market is being constructed.
"I am happy that you have come in numbers and I want to urge you to come to our offices whenever you feel you have been ill-treated by any council police," said Mukutu
Trevor Shava, a vendor said they were happy with the council's move to call them and map a way forward concerning the issue. He also said their issues were handled in a professional manner.
"We are very happy as vendors with the council's move to call this meeting and we are also happy with the outcome," said Shava.local news
