    Mirror appoints assistant general manager

    – The Mirror which has transformed from a provincial newspaper to a regional one has appointed Placida Inzwirashe Gonese as the assistant general manager (marketing and administration) of the company with effect from April 1, 2016.
The announcement was made by The Mirror chairman, Rodgers Matsikidze.
Gonese's key mandate is to create good brands in the company's products, to open lines of communication between the organisation and both its internal and external publics with a view to building a good image for the company. She will also be required to come up with solid marketing programmes that should see The Mirror as the country's leading regional paper.
Gonese graduated with a marketing management degree (Hon) from the Midlands State University in December 2013 and briefly did temporary teaching at Gokomere Primary School in Masvingo.
She did her attachment with The Mirror and was the Best Student on attachment for the year 2012. She rejoined the organisation at the beginning of last year as a marketing executive.
Matsikidze said the appointment is in line with the newspaper's transformation from a provincial to regional paper. He said that the company structures must therefore adjust to the new thrust.
"The Mirror has become a regional newspaper but with a strong local taste. We now cover the entire southern region and have established offices in Chiredzi, Zvishavane and Chivhu. We have bureaus in Gweru and Beitbridge and we are doing well in those markets," said Matsikidze.business news
