    $2m budget for Shurugwi RDC approved

    - The Ministry of Rural Development, Preservation and Promotion of National Cultural Heritage has approved Tongogara Rural District Council (RDC) 2016 budget of $2m.
    Tongogara RDC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Rufasha confirmed the developments to The Mirror, in a telephone interview and said the budget was approved at the beginning of the year.
    "The Ministry approved council budget of $2 million by the beginning of this year and we have started working on a number of projects we have lined up," said Rufasha.
    He also said that last year the budget was at $2,1 million and it had gone down this year because of the difficult economic situation.
    He said there were a number of projects lined up for implementation which includes completing clinics in three different wards, road maintenance, infrastructural development and improving service delivery.
    "We have a number of projects lined up and these include completion of three clinics in three different wards, road maintenance, infrastructure development and improving service delivery. We really have quite a number of good projects and the Minister commended us on that," said Rufasha 
    "Council is also paying school fees for 100 underprivileged pupils doing their primary and secondary education.
    Debt collectors have been appointed to collect especially from entities in the mining industry that have not been paying their tax.
     "I am also happy to say that we have a well functioning piggery project with 260 pigs so far and it is also helping us with some revenue," said Rufasha.business news
