i – The recently retired Nandi Primary School head, Christopher Magwendere (53) has appeared in court facing charges of indecent assault against pupils.
Mangwende appeared before Chiredzi Resident Magistrate Constance Mutandwa.
The State represented by Gladmore Gwara said sometime in July 2015 Magwendere who retired from Government to escape censure over the case had developed a system of romancing and fondling a 12-year-old pupil who he would send to his office for house-keeping duties.
Giving evidence under camera the minor indicated that she had been instructed by the accused to arrive early at school and do her housekeeping duties at the head's office. The complainant together with her friends were cleaning the office when the headmaster suddenly dismissed her buddies leaving the minor with her.
"It was at this juncture that Mr Magwendere began romancing me and fondling my breasts and touched by body from top to bottom" she said.
The court heard that Magwendere's first encounter was with a 13-year-old girl who escaped his grip but did not report her encounter with the head to the authorities.
The matter came into light when the first minor told the 12-year-old that she had received the same abuse from the head and they reported the matter to the teachers who later handed over the matter to the Ministry of Education and the Police.news
