    Mangwaya shines at Mirror Awards

    – Miriam Mangwaya, a student with the National University of Science and Technology on attachment with The Mirror made an emphatic statement about her capabilities when she walked away with the best awards at the newspaper's annual prize giving ceremony and end of year party.
    Mangwaya was voted the Best student on attachment for 2015 after beating students from various universities to the prize. As if this was not enough Mangwaya who recently opened the Chivhu Bureau for the Mirror snatched an award for the Second Best Bureau thereby beating senior journalists to the prize.
    Mangwaya walked away with prize money courtesy of the awards sponsored by The Mirror's major sponsor Virginia Takaona  Holmes who works in the medical field in the UK.
    The Mirror has four bureaus in Chiredzi, Beitbridge, Zvishavane and Chivhu.
    Morris Bishi, the bureau chief for Chiredzi also got top awards alongside Mangwaya. Bishi won the Best Bureau Award and was also adjudged the Best Employee of the Year.
    Mirror consultant, Matthew Takaona told the staff that the year 2015 was a particularly tough one as advertising and circulation revenue shrunk in responce to the difficult economic situation. He said management had to come up with various survival strategies in a situation where several well funded national newspapers have closed shop.
    He thanked Virginia Takaona for continuing to support the company inspite of the bleak prospects and for also sponsoring the end of year party and awards.
    Staff members expressed their appreciation for the awards and acknowledgement of their effort. They thanked Virginia for appreciating the importance of workers.news
