Masvingo – Happy days are back!
The Caravan Park, the prime outdoor drinking and wedding venue entertainment place for Masvingo has reopened and its being leased to CFX Tours and Travel, a Harare based company.
The grand dad of Zimbabwe music, Oliver Mtukudzi aka Tuku is set to provide top drawer music at the official opening function set for the first week of December.
The Masvingo City Council-owned property had been shut for over a year now after the city council failed to keep it afloat because of shrinking beverage business. Council shut down most of its beerhalls and some of those have now been turned into churches.
Descent Muziya who is the manager for Caravan Park told The Mirror in an interview that there will be a massive re-launch function and Mtukudzi will be performing. He said the function will be attended by the who is who of Masvingo including Cabinet Ministers.
"Although the actual date of the official opening has not been confirmed we intend to bring Tuku to perform on the day which will be graced by the who is who of Masvingo including Cabinet Ministers from the province, it will be a massive event," said Muziya.
CFX won the tender to lease Caravan Park after council advertised for bids early this year.
A number of renovations have been done at the park that include a new and bigger cold room, a bar, a new braai centre and a butchery with a variety of meat for sale.
Muziya also said there is a heavy duty standby generator to ensure there are cold drinks available all the time.
"We want to put up a state of the art entertainment centre as we intend to build a kids play centre, modern car wash with proper structures and equipment, an adult leisure centre and we are sourcing most of the material and labour from Masvingo as a way of giving back to the community," said Muziya.
He also added that they have engaged a professional security company to make sure cars are secure inside.
They have also introduced traditional meals for lunch and supper to cater for different tastes.
Muziya has vast experience in the hospitality industry where he has been working for a top hotel in South Africa until this year when he joined CFX.
CFX Travel and Tours has vast experience in the hospitality industry where they offer car rentals and travel bookings for tourists around the globe.
There is also CFX Freight (Pvt) Ltd a subsidiary of CFX Tours based in Harare, Eastlea which mainly deals in customs clearing, freight logistics like air, road, sea and rail freight. The company also provide warehousing, vehicle registration and abnormal loads.entertainment
