Mushayamunda Trust donates calculators to Bikita schools

    Leopold Munhende - BIKITA
    – Some 285 Casio scientific calculators worth $2500 were last week donated to six schools in Matsayi area under Chief Mabika, 85 kilometres south of Nyika growth point by the Mushayamunda Christian Development Trust as part of its donation to underprivileged schools in the district.
Pastor Derrick Mushayamunda who was representing the Trust, presented the calculators to Tabudirira High, Chizondo High, Cheninga High, Magocha, Odzi Secondary and Tamuka Secondary where he urged headmasters to ensure that the less privileged of the community get access to the calculators as that is the only way their dreams of a brighter future could be achieved.
"We had been concentrating on primary school development over the past years with the help of our friends and well-wishers but we feel it is also necessary for us to look at the welfare of secondary and high schools too even with such small contributions.
"We believe in a holistic ministry where we try to meet people's physical, spiritual  and social needs so it will be an added advantage to heads of schools to give us a list of the things their schools need so that we help them," said Pastor Mushayamunda.
Pastor Mushayamunda also pleaded with school heads to help in the mentorship of pupils through scripture union and peer groups while still at school and ensure that they will remember their siblings when they become better off in future.
Tabudirira High School Headmaster, Univesta Mukwena expressed gratitude at the donation by the Trust and assured them that they would do their best in maintaining the relationship by using the resources donated to them in the best possible way.
"This is largely a poor community and parents cannot afford to buy these calculators at a time where the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is encouraging schools to adopt the calculator version in mathematics.
"Definitely we will use these to help students and ensure that their classes and exams are easier," said Mukwena.
Mushayamunda Christian Development Trust donates an average of 5000 books to primary schools in the area each year.
The Trust will be sinking boreholes for the six schools to alleviate water challenges they are currently facing by end of this year starting with Mashoko Mission next week.News, education
