BULAWAYO – Zimbabwe`s representative in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederations Cup Triangle United FC is through to the play-offs stage of the competitions after  beating Azam FC from Tanzania 1-0 at Barbourfields Stadium last Saturday winning the first round stage on 2-0 aggregate.
The Sugar Sugar Boys as Triangle if fondly known defeated Azam 1-0 two weeks ago at Chamazi Stadium in Tanzania through a strike from ever reliable captain Ralph Kawondera.
Trevor Mavhunga`s late strike at Barbourfields made sure that Sugar Sugar Boys progress to the play off stages where they will meet another team which was eliminated from CAF Champions League and this is according to new rules by CAF.
Triangle Coach Taurai Mangwiro said winning in the CAF competitions was a great achievement for Triangle and its fans and progressing to an-other level will be paying back to always loyal fans from Chiredzi most of whom travelled to watch the team in Bulawayo.
“It is a great achievement, we do not want to restrict us to the play-offs, anything we want is to aim higher. We said at the start of the campaign we could be a new club in the Confederations Cup but we have the experi-ence. It means a lot to anyone involved with Triangle from fans to compa-ny management who continues to support us despite harsh economic con-ditions prevailing in the country” said Mangwiro.
