Masvingo woman killed as boyfriend ‘pushes’ her into a moving car

GWERU – Police has remained mum on the progress of their investigations into the death of a Masvingo woman who was crashed and killed by an oncoming car after her alleged boyfriend pushed her while they haggled in the middle of the road.
Paidaishe Melissa Sithole (26), a former Chibi and Ndarama high schools’  student was crashed in a horrendous accident two weeks ago when the boyfriend Lawrence Chimombo pushed her while they argued from the middle of Gweru – Harare High way near Regina Mundi High School some 9km from Gweru city centre.
Sithole was born in Masvingo and grew up at her parents’ house in Pangolin, Goronga Street until she completed her O levels at Ndarama in 2011. She lost both parents while she was still at Chibi High School in 2008 and this forced her to transfer to Ndarama.
She left her parents’ home to stay in Gweru after she completed her O levels.
Sources said Sithole died on the spot at around 4am as she and her boyfriend were on their way to Kwekwe where she intended to sleep over at the latter’s place. They had allegedly spent the night at Pabloz Club in Gweru before they set out towards Kwekwe in a Ford Ranger.
“They argued from the middle of the highway and Chimombo allegedly pushed her while there was BMW coming from Kwekwe towards Gweru. She was crashed and died on the spot,” said a source.
Sithole’s brother Gilbert Mashakwe confirmed the incident and said that the deceased was buried at Mkoba 9 Cemetery.
It is understood that Chimombo fled from the scene leaving the body and driver.
Sources also said that Chimombo snubbed the funeral on Sunday and went on to celebrate his birthday on Monday whilst the man who ran over Sithole attended the funeral together with his parents.
Mashakwe told The Mirror that on the day in question; Paida who had visited her grandmother in Mkoba from Harare left Pabloz with Chimombo for a ‘sleepover’ in Kwekwe where the latter resides.
The two allegedly quarrelled over an undisclosed matter near Regina Mundi and they disembarked from a Ford Ranger and after failing to find common ground.
He added that the driver of the BMW whose name could not be established by the time of going to print said that Sithole was in the company of two men when she was pushed.
