    UK based artist gives back to community


    BIKITA – Masvingo born Lilian Chamunorwa ‘Aka Dj Latria Blues of Energy Sounds United Kingdom returns to support her former school Muvhuti Primary by assisting under privileged pupils in primary level in an effort to better their lives.
    This was revealed during a meeting she had with parents and pupils of Muvhuti Primary school in Bikita last week and she said the project was launched this month and will be ongoing under the theme ‘Adopt a child’s education’.
    ‘We are still looking for sponsorship to support these children. We continue to challenge more people to adopt a child’s education’, said Chamunorwa.
    Through  her efforts, Chamunorwa has appealed for sponsors locally and internationally to assist children who are struggling to fund their education and this programme has been supported by individuals as well as organisations like E&N Design ltd, Latria diaspora community of friends and other well-wishers who believe in the cause.
    The initiative came after Chamunorwa realized that many children from her childhood community were not going to school due to economic hardships and so far 15 pupils from Muvhuti  primary school have been chosen and among them is Wakanaka Marevhu, Constance Tangarirai, Brian Nyamande, Edna Manyanye and Tawananyasha Tawuya.
    During interviews, most parents expressed their gratitude and told The Mirror that they relied on part time jobs to raise fees for their children and most of the children who were present are in the upkeep of their grandparents and do not now the whereabouts of their parents. #Masvingo Mirror#
